About Incubation Centre IIT Patna

Incubation Centre IIT Patna was setup in a dedicated 30,000 sq.    ft facility in IIT Patna campus with a financial assistance from Govt. of India and Dept. of IT, Government of Bihar in December 2014.

Incubation Centre IIT Patna will accommodate 100+ people (incubatees and staff), and having world class facilities such technology labs, clean room, meeting and conference facility, cafeteria, library, recreation facility and a 4 guest rooms.

BIRAC: (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council)

Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an Interface Agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs.

BioNEST-Incubation Centre IIT Patna

IC IITP BioNEST, supported by BIRAC, Government of India aims to promote and support the innovation and entrepreneurship activities in the broad scope of Life sciences, MedTech and Biotech based ideas.

Facilities available at IC IITP BioNEST

IC IITP BioNEST program provides affordable state-of-art incubation facilities sprawled across 10,000 sq.ft. which includes the following:

  1. Incubatee workspace: IC IITP will provide air conditioned co-working incubation office space with cubicles, furniture and internet connectivity with minimal charge.
  2. Meeting and Conference Facilities: Full equipped 8 seater meeting rooms and 30 seater conference room with conference facility, computers, audio visual setups, AC etc.
  3. Dedicated office space: IC is having full furnished dedicated office space which will be available to the entrepreneurs in a rental basis.
  4. Labs: Incubated start-ups will get access to our State-of the-Art Lab facilities which included PCB Prototyping, product designing, 3D Printing, testing and manufacturing facilities housed at IC IITP to foster and support their entrepreneurial journey.   • Mentorship on entity registration, problem validation, product and service definition, patents and other aspects of business planning
  • Product development support which includes design and prototyping
  • Product testing support : Facilities available for testing of devices and other products, market trials etc.
  • Clinical studies support : Support for clinical studies or clinical validation of life sciences related products through partners

Funding availability

  • Startups can avail funding under various schemes that are operating at IC IIT Patna, subject to eligibility and selection criteria of those schemes
  • Startups supported under ICIITP BioNEST will be supported for applying for various grant schemes of BIRAC and DBT
  • ICIITP BioNest conducts periodic investor interaction meets, where companies can pitch for private investment

Application Process

  • Applications can be submitted through the application form
  • The received applications will be scrutinized by the domain experts
  • The shortlisted applicants will be called to pitch their idea/technology to our selection committee
  • Offer of incubation/support will be sent to the selected startups, that will state the terms of support
  • Subsequent to acceptance of offer, an agreement will be signed between the startup and IC IIT Patna
  • Startup will be onboarded as soon as the agreement is signed and support activities will be initiated
